The Hope and Area Transition Society is a non-profit society in Hope and the surrounding area that provides programs and services to individuals and families affected by social issues.
Family violence involves the intent of a person to control an individual by means of physical, psychological, sexual, spiritual, financial, or property abuse.
The intent of abuse is to control behavior by inducing of fear. Common to all abuse is a power imbalance between the victim and the abuser. The term family violence encompasses the implications of violence for society as a whole.
Transition Houses, Safe Havens, Safe Homes and Shelters are available around the world for anyone who needs this service.
