Who We Are

The Hope and Area Transition Society is the sponsoring agency which provides the Semi-Independent Second Stage Living Program to selected women.  The Second Stage Program is offered through the Joan Greenwood Complex.

This program is designed as a second step for women who are leaving a Transition House or leaving an abusive relationship.  Second Stage is for women who have passed through the crisis stage and no longer need Transition House support, however, they still need encouragement, personal support, counseling, life skills training, and affordable accommodation.  This program is strictly for;

  • women and children who have been impacted by family violence
  • Women who experience multiple forms of abuse
  • Women with little or no educational background and/or work history
  • Women fleeing from their geographical area in order to escape their abuser
  • Women in need of extensive advocacy and/or involved in lengthy court proceedings
  • Women with very few support systems and/or resources
